Holidays are all about making special memories, and one of my favourites was with my colleagues, spending endless hours at Parvada Bungalow, Mukteshwar, Uttarakhand. Parvada Bungalow, owned by Vasudha and Sanjay Sondhi is 1hr 30mins drive from Kathgodam railway station. The climb up from Kathgodam to Parvada by car was by itself a pleasurable sojourn. Painted in red and set against verdant green hills, the bungalow makes for quite a sight. Guests can relax and gaze out at the hills covered with picturesque pine trees which stretch as far as the eyes go. Our mornings started with the serene mountain-quietness, punctuated by intermittent chirping of birds and the divine sound of conch wafting in from the Ganesha temple inside the estate.
The bungalow is surrounded with apple, peach, plum( Palam in local dialect) and pears trees all within the estate and plucking fruits was one of the most interesting and enjoyed activities for us. The vegetarian food served was an overly satiating experience and the chef and his support staff were very courteous and made sure that we were well served.
Summing up, it was a weekend well spent and we returned, to our base in Delhi, with nerves soothed and souls rejuvenated to resume the daily hustle and bustle.
